Have I told you how much I lurve what I do. The flowers , the shoes, the last minute decisions, the look that passes between getting ready and being ready – but most of all it’s the bride, the groom and the people around them! This was especially true for Australian couple Jesse and Steven who got married in Queenstown at the end of November. Their intimate wedding was a true reflection of  their spirit  and the meaning of family and best friends. An example of their spirit was that they had never ever been to Queenstown before the week of their wedding – they had planned the whole day over the internet  and what an amazing job they did.

We rocked out the last week of October with Louise and Tim’s nuptials. Their wedding was a fantastic celebration of everything that L & T have enjoyed together. From a wedding dress inspired by Lord of the Rings to a first dance on ice to a pirate ship wedding cake to balloon animal creations!! This was a pretty original, fun and memorable wedding to be a part of.

October was a special month for the fabulous Poppy and Ben! I first meet Poppy a few years ago here in Queenstown when we were both working at local newspapers. She oozed class and charm and had fab sense of humour. Poppy even took the first photo of Nick and I on our first date (The Boiler Room has a lot to answer for) . . . and its a photo that still takes centre stage on our fridge!

The day that we first heard about Ben was the day we also heard from Poppy that her plans to head overseas were on hold – permanently!  Coincidence – not a chance. These two, seriously, are a match in heaven. Their wedding was an absolute delight to photograph and one that I will stay very special to me. Plus check out Poppy’s dress – I consider getting an annulment and remarrying Nick just so that I could have a dress like it  It was gorgeous!

where to start !!!! Its been a couple of weeks since I last blogged  . . . wedding season has started! I love it … but it means time management is being tested!

A lot of wonderful stuff has been happening here at Stellar and the first I want to share with you is that we won a silver merit award in the 2009 Kodak Gold Awards. These awards are an open competition among professional wedding and portrait photographers in New Zealand. The blurb that came with my award pack said ” these awards reward excellence in imaging and are therefore a great help in assisting customers to select a suitably qualified professional photographer who can offer them that creative difference when capturing their special moment forever.” A bit cheesy but it conveys the relevance of the competition.

Now this award is a biggy for me as I don’t do competitions, never have – not even piano grades.  So you can imagine that this was really putting myself out their – to be JUDGED!
